Joyce Rowe

Joyce was thus from an early age exposed relentlessly to the world of folk dance and music. She took up the fiddle when in junior school and did a few grade exams, but always preferred the folk music workshops and playing for the dance club. Joyce was a second fiddle with the local schools orchestra for a while, but soon discovered that she preferred playing in a folk dance band.

In the past, she has played with the Mixolydians, with several variations on family bands and occasionally with David Pattenden's former band 'O Yez', as well as a brief spell as a musician for Touchwood Appalachian, with whom she also danced for some years. (She is also a clog dancer, though very out of practice.)

Joyce joined Knotted Chord in 1989 and married Philip a couple of years later. She is currently taking a break from the band to devote herself to their children, budding musicians, both. Watch out for an occasional guest appearance!
